Audiobooks are booming, giving a way for busy people with no time to sit down and read a way to listen to stories.
For indie authors, we all know the value of audio, but often we hold off on turning our books into audio form, thinking it’s impossible.
Too expensive. Too time consuming.
It might not be as hard as you think.
If you decide you want to take the plunge and record your own audiobook, I wanted to send you the resources that made it possible for me.
AUDACITY: A free, open-source software that will allow you to record, edit, and export your sound files.
BLUE YETI MICROPHONE: High-quality mic that plugs into your computer (USB A), creating s professional audiobook. 30% off on 7/11-7/12
POP FILTER FOR YETI MIC: Not required, but can be helpful in softening certain sounds like plosives (p sounds)
In the video, I recommend using a sound engineer to create a polished final sound. In order to meet ACX requirements, it takes the stress off non-audio professionals to hand it over to someone else. If you’re interested, this is the freelancer I used for my audiobooks. He did a dang fine job: FIND HIM ON FIVERR
Finally, if you are interested in hearing the final product, you can find my own audiobooks, specifically the first two books of the Siren Song series. Don’t worry, book 3 is coming soon :)
