You’ve probably noticed I’ve been rather quiet since the move. Funny, how the best-laid plans can get thrown off when we least expect it.
In April, we closed on a townhouse, freeing me from the hooligan neighbors living above me in the apartment complex that had previously been a nice place to live. But then... the two-week renovation metastasized into a six-week renovation and my ability to do anything—write, edit, make videos—all of it was severely compromised.
I had no solid place to work. My dog was languishing in a kennel (FWIW, it's a nice place, but she has mobility problems, so she has special needs). It was all very stressful, made worse by the fact that my self-talk was... well, let's just say it wasn't kind.
The Editor Recommends
Stephen King famously said, “If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” I heartily agree and I’ve happily been able to read more lately. Every month, I plan to recommend some of my favorites in multiple genres. So no matter what you’re into, hopefully, you’ll find something appealing. Enjoy!

Client Shoutout
To more realistically balance my responsibilities, I plan to send out two emails a month: the newsletter on the first Friday of the month, and a fiction installment on the last Friday of the month. Along with that, you probably didn’t notice, but I removed the option for premium subscriptions. Honestly, I don’t have the bandwidth to put out the volume of material that would have made it worth it for premium subscribers. There weren’t a ton, but I didn’t feel right taking money from those few people given my current output.
